Freeware PPC Ratings Extracted and Sorted

(Update: I have done the same thing for the Palm here.)

The FreewarePPC website contains a goldmine of ratings of Pocket PC freeware. But there's a problem: it does not provide a way to sort the programs by rating. So it is impossible to tell which programs people have rated as being the best.

Until now. I have extracted all of the ratings. Programs with the most ratings are at the top; programs with the least ratings, at the bottom. This gives an excellent view of which programs are highly regarded in the Pocket PC community.

Without screenshots
With screenshots (305 of them!)

Quick Facts:
  • FreewarePPC lists 1025 freeware programs
  • 305 of those programs have at least one rating
  • There are a total of 960 ratings entered
  • I extracted the information using Cygwin lynx, XEmacs, and a 60-line Ruby script

  • The freeware software list is useful. Nice to be able to skim through the comments so easily. Is it a live list or do you have to do a manual update every onece in a while? Perhaps a "Last Compiled on ..." would help.

    Thanks

    Richard

  • Hi Richard - Good idea - I will add a "Last Compiled on" when I get a sec.
