An extension failed to initialize. Can't open file: extend.dat. The file may not exist, you may not have permission to open it, or it may be open in another program. Right-click the folder that contains the file, and then click Properties to check your permissions for the folder.

  • If you have a Registry cleaner or spyware cleaner try restoring deleted files performed in those programs closest to when the problem begun.

  • Most probably the file is hidden. The file should be in {drive}\Documents and settings\{your name}\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook
    Unhide local settings and all suddirectories.
